Reaching Oxford


Oxford by air
London Heathrow is the closest airport and 45 miles away. Coaches operate to Oxford from the airport. London Gatwick is 85 miles away and connected by train and coach.

Oxford by Train
Oxford is easy to reach by train. The rail station is to the west of the city centre in Botley Road at the far end of Park End Street . Trains run frequently to London Paddington.

Oxford by Coach
Coaches arrive from many destinations at the main coach station in Gloucester Green. The Oxford Express X90 runs every 20/30 minutes in the day time and offers as 24/7 service (01865 785400). The Oxford Tube operates with similar high frequency and on a 24/7 basis (01865 772250). National Express operates to most destinations (08705 808080).

Oxford by Car

By car is easy but parking in the city is difficult. Oxford has a good Park and Ride arrangement with five different car parks around the city with a low parking charge and cheap bus fare to take you into the city centre. Buses run with high frequency. Park and Ride car parks are located at Redbridge on A4144 for the south; Thornhill on the A40/40 for the east; Seacourt on A420 for the west and for the north at Pear Tree on the A3/A44 junction and at Water Eaton on A4260.
