Oxford University is over 900 years old and consists of a federation of Colleges. Students belong to a College whilst they study at Oxford . The colleges listed are open to the public at certain times of the day. The times given can and do change at short notice. A good view of the colleges can be had from Carfax Tower in the centre of Oxford.

All Souls College
Founded in 1438, with its distinctive twin towers is the ninth oldest college and does not accept under graduates. High Street (01865 279279).
Balliol College
Founded in 1263 and one of the oldest colleges and originally for poor scholars.Balliol Street.
Brasenose College
Founded in 1509 and named after ‘brazen-nose” a door knocker in the shape of a heraldic animal. Radcliffe Square (01865 277830).
Christchurch College
The largest college and founded in 1546. Arguably the most famous and unique having its own cathedral. Home of Charles Dodgson, who used the pen name Lewis Carroll and wrote “ Alice in Wonderland”. A small undergraduate college founded in 1517. Merton Street.
Exeter College
An old college founded in 1314. Turl Street.
Harris Manchester College
A new college opened in 1997. Mansfield Road.
Hertford College
Founded in 1282. Catte Street.
Jesus College
Founded in 1571. Turl Street.
Keble College
Founded in 1868. Parks Road.
Lincoln College
Founded in 1427. Turl Street.
Magdalen College
Founded in 1458 recognisable by the Tower of the College Chapel a major Oxford landmark. High Street.
Merton College
One of the oldest colleges founded in 1264 and retains some of the original buildings.
New College
Founded in 1379 and a hard to find entrance open up into a significant College. New College Lane.
Oriel College
Founded in 1326. Oriel Square.
Queens College
Founded in 1341 is the fifth oldest College . The builds used today were built in the 18 th Century. High Street .
St John's College
Founded in 1555. St Giles.
Trinity College
Founded in 1555. Broad Street.
Worcester College
Founded in 1714 but was originally Gloucester College that was founded in 1283. Worcester Street.
