Oxford Architecture

Carfax
The crossing of four routes into Oxford marked by the 14th Century Tower of St Martin's Church. Queen Street (01865 792653).

High Street
Nicknamed “The High” a beautiful street with many architectural styles set along a gentle curve.

Oxford Cathedral
A small 12th Century Norman cathedral that is part of Christ Church College.

Radcliffe Square
The Radcliffe Camera was designed by James Gibb. Originally a science library now used as private reading room. Located just off the High Street in Catte Street is can be viewed from the outside but closed to visitors unless on a special tour.

Sheldonian Theatre
Built in 1667 by Christopher Wren with a Roman outside look. Broad Street (01865 277299).

St Michael at the Northgate
The oldest building in Oxford with a Saxon tower.

The Bridge of Sighs
Modeled on the Venetian bridge where Casanova escaped from prison and built in the 19th Century. Located on New College Lane.

The Shark House
A house with a shark through the roof! Located on New High Street, Headington.

University Church of St Mary the Virgin
The church has a 13th Century tower and 14th century spire and provides a good city view point. High Street (01865 279111).
